Colorado Caucus 2024

What is a precinct caucus?

Precinct caucuses are neighborhood-level meetings hosted by the Republican Party during even-numbered years in advance of a Primary Election. A precinct is the smallest subdivision of a county. Precinct caucuses are the first step for each political party to engage voters, select candidates for the Primary Election and decide on a party platform for the year. Locations vary and are listed on our website.

What happens at a precinct caucus?

First, attendees will elect Precinct Leaders (PCP). These volunteers will represent the party in each precinct, serve on the County Party Central Committee, help get out the vote for party candidates, recruit election judges and poll watchers, and assist with planning of year round activities. Attendees also will choose delegates to their Party’s County, District and State Assemblies, where the delegates will nominate candidates to the ballot and approve the party’s platform through resolutions.

Who can attend a precinct caucus?

Only voters who are affiliated with the Republican Party may actively vote in a precinct caucus for their political party. Unaffiliated and other parties may attend caucus as visitors, but may not vote.

Please visit https://www.coloradosos.gov/voter/pages/pub/olvr/findVoterReg.xhtml to find your precinct number and info.

What happens after the precinct caucuses?

After the precinct caucuses, the Republican Party will hold County, District and State Assemblies. At the County Assembly, delegates will nominate candidates for county elected offices and approve the county party platform with resolutions. At various District Assemblies, delegates will nominate candidates for Congress, the Colorado General Assembly, State Board of Education, Board of Regents and District Attorneys. At the State Assembly, delegates will nominate candidates for national delegate slots, and approve a statewide party platform.

Bring a checkbook or payment for Delegate Fees?

Each County, District, and State Assembly will have a charge for participation. These charges cover the cost of the venue and materials to cast votes. You can pay by check or through an online payment option. These fees need to be paid on the night of the caucus to be a delegate
